Power of the Daleks
I can finally announce that I will be working on the sound design, music and mixing for a film remake of Doctor Who: Power of the Daleks. The TNT Films production will be a modern take on the 1966 lost classic television story.

Power of the Daleks was originally intended to be the third stage play by Interalia Theatre as part of a trilogy. It would have followed on from The Dalek Masterplan with Nicholas Briggs returning as The Doctor. Unfortunately the BBC would not licence another charity stage play due to the continuing popularity of the television series of Doctor Who and the complaints by other fans that wanted to do similar productions and refused.
Most of the regular cast from the stage adaptations of Evil of the Daleks and The Dalek Masterplan are appearing in this film remake. Nick Scovell takes the controls of the TARDIS once again as The Doctor while Nicholas Briggs, who provides Dalek/Cyberman voices on the television series, provides Dalek voices for Power. Briggs was due to play the Doctor in the film after Scovell's Doctor regenerated at the end of Masterplan but was too busy with other work and was unable to attend filming dates.

Nicholas Briggs isn't the only cast member from the audio world of Doctor Who. Also starring are Barnaby Edwards, Lisa Bowerman, and David Bickerstaff.
The film is going to be something very special. It is being produced by TNT Films with a professional cast and crew so even though it is considered a fan film the production values are extremely high. We will have some great CGI work, the film was shot in 720p high definition, there were 7 Daleks on set and we even had a helicopter!

I will be providing sound design and music for the film and it is my intention to mix the audio in 5.1 surround sound. If we're going to do a modern cinematic take on Power of the Daleks in high definition then why not do it using modern mixing techniques. The soundtrack is just as important as the images and it can make or break a production.
A teaser trailer has already been released on YouTube and there will be more leading up to Christmas when a full trailer will be released.
