The Source Recording

Looking for a sparkling soundscape? Want that cinematic Skywalker Sound? Creating new sounds from scratch is an art form and it requires creative initiative. I have created some of the most demanding sound design in audio production and have a thirst for more in radio, television, film and new media production.

MartinMartin creating the soundscape of a summer evening.

Creating the structure of an aural world within a production to enforce and heighten the dramatic experience sufficiently requires practice, experience and most of all good creativity.

With a lot of sound libraries currently available it is hard to find original material. Fortunately I'm not a fan of these readily available sounds at all and only ever use them as a last resort. I feel that it is lazy to rely on these libraries and call yourself a sound designer even in the modern media industry where programmes are produced quickly. I prefer to do the work required in creating new sounds to give a more personal and unique soundtrack to any production I am involved with. There is nothing worse, in my opinion, than hearing a sound effect you recognise from another production because instead of taking in the story you are now thinking about where you've heard that sound before.

I use a range of techniques to gather new sounds specific to the production I am working on. Not only do I record source sounds in my studio I also go that extra mile and travel to where I can find the sound needed.

The work I do is a true passion of mine and I love doing it! That's why every single sound I create is carefully chosen and manipulated to give the best possible results.

Whether you want an epic battle in space or simply someone walking in the woods, I can give you the professional soundtrack you need for your production.
